I'm tempted to try one of these!

Darn tendonitis in my shoulders. Causes pain when I transfer. Which is almost limiting my independence. I'm wondering if I could use one of these to help me get out of the car. he he.

The web site says it lifts 80% of your body weight. So while you're sitting, 20% of your body weight keeps it flat. Start lifting yourself...... you should feel 80% lighter. But it has to be adjusted..... otherwise Chris and Herco are prolly right.... you get catapulted to the floor, lol.

Is it possible to go off work for a month to save your shoulders Jeff?

Jeff, we evaluated these where I work. A MAJOR finger pinch risk with the mechanism, and it can pitch you forward so much that you would fall. Not worth risking a fracture of your leg, I think. In addition, this would not be an acceptable sitting surface for pressure reduction all the time. Perhaps it is time to consider driving from your chair and getting a van...this can go a long way to preserving your shoulders.

Thanks, KLD.

Fuentejps, Lynnifer - My shoulders have improved a little. At one time I couldn't sleep on my stomach or reach in the fridge. Now, I can do those things easier. I never have pain wheeling my chair. It's just transferring that causes a problem. My legs and butt are three times bigger than they were for the first 20 years due to my FES bike. Plus I've gotten older. It's like it all came together at once to kick my ass.

My PT is increasing the weight amounts I do weightlifting and adding a few new exercises. My program is now almost four hours including heat at the beginning and ice at the end. Maybe it will pay off and the plateau will be lifted higher.

I'm also thinking of a pulley system. LOL. Serious, though. Something that would let me use a different motion to lift myself. Because lots of my muscles/tendons are still in good shape. And I still need to try a sliding board. That should help. And maybe in a year I can afford a massive investment in a van.

So, life is a tough row to hoe about now.

OTOH, I have a date tonight with a sexy young lady I'm crazy about. So, it's hard to complain too much.

And, Yes, it's my wife!

Ya know Jeff, despite what fuente says its not uncool to drive a van .I'll bet the transfer to a 6way is a quarter the effort on your shoulders as the car.
