the last few times i've had some very red blood in my stool. i'm guessing this is a hemroid. how do i take care of it? prep H? how do i use that? i'm a c6, do my own BM, and have been doing so for 2 years myself and never had a problem....

any help would b great....

Try pooping with minimum stimulation, cleaning up and applying prep h after your shower. Can you see and monitor your hemmorhoid?

I go about once a year to the proctologist to get them banded.

...is the blood in the stool or around it?
My guess is around in which case, yes it coul be piles (easier to spell :-) .

I agree with Jim (although it took me 10 years to follow his advice).
In a couple of hours I'll be going to my 2nd intervention see post http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/showthread.php?p=351418

If the red is in the stool I'd dart off to my doctor because that would be signs of a more serious problem (...the thing is though, the blood would have clotted by then and wouldn't be red).

I hope our nurses are watching, ...I'm out of suggestions.

Cheers!

You should call your doctor either way.
Hemorhoids are just inflammation and can bleed easily. However, you want to be sure there is nothing else going on. Routine testing by gastroenterologist is recommended periodically but with blood seen in stool, if yo have not had this done you should have it done now.
Try:
Anusol HC suppositories are helpful and decrease the inflammation.
Preparation H comes in a gel and also works for some.
Cool compresses are also helpful for decreasing the swelling.
You might try applying an our or two before your bowel program so that they will be less irritated with the bowel program.
