Quadriplegic looking for best possible small wheelchair. Is Invacare the right choice?
I'm a quadriplegic C5, C6 complete and I'm looking for a new power chair. I want one that is as small as I can get it for my needs and my injury. I've been looking around for a long time. Does anybody know if any new chairs are coming out if not is the Invacare tdx series the best choice?
If I get a custom back on it it seems like it could be a very small chair. Any suggestions? |

It depends on what you mean by small. Are you talking about a small turning radius? Small overall footprint? Small frame design? The mid-wheel-drive chairs will give you the smallest turning radius, but I don't find any of them to be particularly compact from an overall design point of view. The Quickie P222 is the closest you will find to a frame that resembles a manual chair, but that's just my personal preference.

I agree with Clipper on her post.
Q p222 is rather fast - can be set up to 5 levels with degrees of speed for each level. Dann, a custom back will most likely make your chair look bigger, with whatever added component you need for customization. The chair you posted in pic seems more than a typical c5/6 would need. So, you would need to give more info on your seating needs for ideas that are more appropriate for your specific chair issue/needs. |

I've never seen a more responsive power chair than the Quickie P-222. Invacare makes a similar chair.

I'm sorry, I completely forgot to describe what type of chair. The type of torture I'm looking for is one that has an overall small appearance. Like in that Quickie or the Invacare. I'm also going to put a custom j-back on it to get rid of the big bulky backrest.
Any suggestions |
