special orteeze

Dear People from Forum

3 years ago I had a car accident and I broke my spinal with cord injury on lumbar level (L1,L2). Now I've 95% activity on my right leg and 30% in left.

If I want walk normal I must use orteeze on my left jumping joint. Everything will be ok but in Poland I can't find orteeze for me. All orteezes in Poland su*ks. If I've normal, great for me orteeze I won't use wheel-chair.

Can you help me find stuff for me in (abroad) world company? I can pay every price if I can move normal without wheel-chair.

Please help me.

Best regards,
Leszek.

I think you mean orthosis (brace)? At your level I would expect you are looking for a plastic AFO (ankle-foot orthosis), correct? This is a brace for your ankle, and fits on the back of your calf and under the sole of your foot inside your shoe. It is held in place with velcro straps. I does not support the knee. Do you have full control of your knee muscles (both extension and flexion)?

While it is possible to get ready-made braces like this, it is safest and most functional to have these custom fit. If a ready-made one does not fit you right, you can get pressure ulcers and may risk falling or breaking an ankle. Is it possible for your to go to another country such as Germany to get a brace fit to you?

Thank you for reply SCI-Nurse.

I want buy full leg orteeze. I don't have full control of your knee and this is problem. I must have orteeze for my whole leg.

If I find camera I take some photo of my polish orteeze and post it here.

It is possible, but impossible for me to tell without examining you. Otto Bock is a good company, and they have orthotists (brace makers) in Germany. This is definately a custom-made brace (not available off-the shelf).
