Pain meds in baclofen pump

I have srevere pain in my feet, hands and ass. i already take tons of oral narcs, and dilodid and bibucane in my pump w/ baclofen. i ran across "Finnerup, et al. (2005). Intravenous lidocaine relieves spinal cord injury pain" article @ http://carecure.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23678 and was wondering if i could gret lidacane put in my pump. i've had this pain 4 a coupleyears but itsonly been the past few months that my pain levels have reached an 8 or 9 on a daily basis. i'm a c5 incomplete (sort of) quad. i NEED 2 know why i got a sudden dramatic increase in pain and what the general pain is caused by. could getting scar tissue removed make a difference? Dr. Young, PLEASE HELP!

pump doesn't work

I may be a bit late in responding to this old thread. In 1999, I had an intrathecal pump from Medtronix installed. It was not installed right the first time and had to be redone a year later. Two years of overdoses of baclofen and one trip to cardiac ICU for Atrial fib brought on indirectly by teh medications, I had the pump removed. I'm a t-12-l-1 burst fracture incomplete SCI. I have some use of my legs but use a wheel chair for most ambulation. Now bowel or bladder control and some spacticity in my lets.
The pump did not work; it can work for CP patients with severe spactity. I wouldn't recommend it otherwise.

Thumbs down

i think u guys misunderstood me. i've had a pump 4 the past 2.5 years and it works very well 4 my severe spasticity. i also have diladid and bibucane & was wondering if i could use lidacane like that 1 study was doing. also, i was wondering if getting the scar tissue in my spinal cord around my injury(c5) removed would hel[p w/ my pain. i worry that its so close 2 c4 that i loose function and end up on a trake. these questions are mainly for Dr Young, or anyone with particular knoledge or experience in this problem. PLEASE HELP!!!

Make the best out of today because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come. Nobody knows that better than those of us that have almost died from spinal cord injury.
