I started aquatic therapy a few months back. I was amazed at how great it felt to get back in the pool! I have use/movement of my legs, so I've been able to kick & swim w/them. I am far from graceful about it, but it feels so good to be able to swim!
My therapist suggested wearing tube socks instead of water shoes because the shoes float & therefore have a tendency to make your legs want to float up easier. The socks absorb the water & become heavier, almost becoming a weight to help keep your legs down. Try it, it may make your swimming a little easier. Have fun swimming, it's great therapy, both physically & psychologically! 'Chelle L-1 inc 11/24/03 |

i use the pool every day I can get out. I do alot on my back. I can move my legs pretty good, but kicks are retarded, weak and i roll sideways so I just use upper body. I use a backward butterfly or alternating strokes. I can almost pull myself out of the pool now with what ive gained this way. helps with para-belly too.
