Sitting causes pain
First I want to apologize if my English is not that good, but I'll give it a try.
Although my SCI (Th8) is complete, I used to get pain when I'm sitting for some hours in my wheelchair. I use a normal cushion. Sometimes the pain is so heavy, that I have to go to bed and lie on my stomach for an hour or so. Do you have any advice? |

I have great pain in my tailbone area not only sitting but all the time. You might try to get what they call a coxynic cushion it has a v shaped cut out in the back to try to help prevent pressure on the tailbone

If you have the resource to, I'd try to find a medical supply store that would allow you to try different types of cushions. I use a Roho Quadtro low profile. It has helped me tremendously, while I was in rehab I had that horrible pain. It took trying several cushions to find one that didn't bother me. As Duge said, he finds a different cushion to work better for him. Everyone is different & therefore, the way their body reacts to their seating situation is different as well. There are a lot of cushions out there that have different aspects & properties that may help you. I hope you find a solution to your pain very soon. I know it's hard to concentrate or work beyond the pain sometimes. Feel free to ask any more questions you have.

I'm not in a chair other than my office chair, but I spend far too many hours there. It has almost non-existant, thin padding and I'm seriously considering a trip to the medical supply store for a wheelchair cushion for myself. |
