what does your body feel like
I posted a note about how the various parts of my body feel. Overall, I feel like a crooked-spined robot made of hot metal, with my shoulder blade region especially tight. Major league uncomfortable.
What do your bodies feel like, at and below the level or injury? Do you also always feel crooked and off-balance because of your scoliosis, as I do? Even though I wear a corset for balance, I never feel balanced (it does keep me from falling forward.) [This message was edited by alan on October 11, 2001 at 11:07 PM.] |

frying pan
i'm a T12 and i always have a numbing feeling, you know those pins that you feel when your limb falls asleep and at times it's so intense i compare it to being in a pan of hot grease, neurotins seem to help though, have you ever tried them they are not narcotic

Personal Pain
ALLEN,
I'm a T-8 complete, with smashed vertebrets. My back just plain hurts! With a timely dose of Narcs, it's managable. As for my out of commission lower half, well it's hard to dicribe. Like yourself I've spent many hours searching for the words to discribe the pain. First of all I take 3600mgs of Neurontin daily, Valium in the evening and as I mentioned earlier,(well sort of) Percocet when needed. With all this medication at work, I can kind of discribe my neuropathic pain as a constant low voltage, high amperage shock. When I move it feels like a major Indian burn, especially around my waist. My piece feels like it's in a vice. And I also have the displeasure of the feeling as if I'm sitting upon a large diameter virticle pipe. Weight lifting, college, family, pets, friends, conversation, mental stimulation among other things usually can take the edge off. We all have it different; it can't be dwelled upon, life goes on. Some day we'll be fixed. Untill that day comes STAY BUSY! Best wishes, Tom |

neurontin for pain
Neurontin gave me hallucinations - I was having conversations with people who weren't there. Gabitril (another antiseizure med) had a similar effect.
