STOCKTON -- Darwin Holmes pushes himself. And pushes himself.

And pushes himself.

Arms, shoulders and hands are his only modes of transportation.

Holmes is a wheelchair-bound athlete who recently won two gold medals and one silver medal at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in St. Louis. Competing in the Class III paraplegic races -- for those whose spinal cord injuries are in the middle of their back -- Holmes touched first in the 50-yard freestyle and completed the wheelchair slalom course faster than his competitors.
