Power wheelchair "sport"
I'm trying to establish a power soccer team in the Philadelphia area in conjunction with Magee rehabilitation hospital. I was wondering if anyone was interested in playing, or had played in the past. The only reason I use the word "team" is because that is how Magee operates when they sponsor a sport. We would need a core group of individuals to demonstrate a sustained interest, but anyone should be able to play without a commitment. If I am successful in generating enthusiasm, they would purchase necessary equipment and assist in scheduling the gym time to play.
I have personally pushed for the activity because it allows people, like myself, with higher level injuries to participate in a team sport. It will give us the opportunity to meet others in an enjoyable setting. I never played the sport, in fact, I've never even seen it played. From my understanding, anyone who is able to drive a power wheelchair can be included. You can visit the following web site to get a better idea of the sport: http://www.sportsnspokes.com/sns/Art...cc/default.htm Please contact me if you are interested or have any suggestions. Thanks!
