You ought to see them when they eat their gumbo on a cold, cloudy day.

Awww, TinaMarie ... I know the feeling. Let me tell you a little secret. For years I thought life would be wonderful again if we moved back home. (12 years in Atlanta, 2 in Raleigh) South Louisiana was the Promised Land to me.

Then I moved home. Guess what ... I had a rude awakening. It wasn't that I was trying to run away from problems, but I was expecting a certain support network to still be in place when I returned. It wasn't.

Life continued. People changed. Don't get me wrong, my family has been wonderful, even my ex husband's family. Don't know what we would have done without them. And I'll be the first to admit now, looking back over those years so far from home, it was the best experience I could have had.

I know your heartache is real. God how I know. I wouldn't be surprised if you do end up back here one day, but take advantage of your time away. As you know, leaving south Louisiana for another part of the country is quite an adjustment. Well, returning to it is as well!

I would NEVER move back to Louisiana. Actually that was an option when I first got out of rehab. My dad still lives in BR and really pushed me to move down there so he could take care of me. That right there is one reason I'd never move-too close to my family. lol But, no, I wouldn't move back because of the economy. There is no way I could find a job as good as the one I have now, and it would take YEARS down there to work up to what I've started out making at this job.

I just wish I could click my heels and be home for a visit whenever I felt homesick. Or maybe just move the food and the people up here to Mich. I do miss the way people are down there. So much friendlier than Northerners. Ya know, I even miss the storms. Here in Mich it rains for a few minutes then stops. I miss those days on end, pouring down rain, thundering and lightning storms!! And of course the camping, fishing, tubing, all the outside stuff.

Visiting will be enough for me once I can get things straightened out enough to visit. Until then, I'll just drool thinking about the food!
