Take some advice...
You heard correctly. If you're at this website, you desire SCI information. You can never have enough resources, right? And Thomas Jefferson University Hospital just made its Spinal Cord Injury Patient-Family Teaching Manual available online. The 400+ page manual focuses on the medical as well as functional aspects of maintaining oneself following a spinal cord injury. In addition, certain chapters go beyond medical topics and cover themes such as mobility, sexuality, and recreation (with a focus on Delaware Valley options-Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware). Discussions are underway to add additional topics in the future such as pain management, caregivers, and research/participating in a research study. I played a small role by copyediting the manual and contributing brief passages. (A humble bow.) At any rate, enjoy it. I hope you find it useful.
www.spinalcordcenter.org Gr8 Dane You will need Adobe Acrobat to download and view the manual. If you do not already have this free software downloaded to your computer, a link to Adobe's homepage is available at the manual's homepage. Thomas Jefferson University is designated by the National Center for Disability Research as one of sixteen federal Model Spinal Cord Injury Systems. |
