Width of posts on forums
Wise, or Steven or whoever...
Some of the posts made on forums do not fit the format of the rest of the posts. They are extremely wide and are difficult to read if not impossible. I believe this is due to certain peoples' settings for text wrapping. Is there a way to set the field on forums that will automatically size the width of posts so that they do not require side-to-side scrolling at every line to read them? If not...maybe an instruction to posters can be made describing the optimal settings for ease of reading. Posters can then adjust their settings for this (of course they would actually have to DO it). Kap "It's not easy being green" |

Kap: If you are using Windows, right click on a blank area on the desk top. Put the cursor on "Video Modes" (depending on the operating system, you may need to click). You will see a lot of numbers--on mine it says "800 by 600 True Color." Change your setting to "1024 by 768 256 colors" by high lighting it and clicking the left mouse button. You will notice that the icons and the font will be a lot smaller, but you will no longer have to scroll right or left to read the topics and the replies.

Kap, this site is actually very accomodating of all sorts of images and materials. However, when something is posted that cannot be split (i.e. a long URL address or a large image), it presents a problem.
People should use the URL tool for posting long internet addresses, instead of just pasting it on. For example, the addresses of topics on this site are very long and distort the page display. Wherever possible, the moderators try hard to edit the these messages. We probably correct several of these messages a day. Pictures. Depending on the resolution of your browser (the standard is 96 dpi or dots per inch). If the standard window is 6 inches across, the maximum width of the pictures that you post should be no bigger than about 600 pixels horizontally. People should check their digital images before posting them on the site. Wise. |
