OpenTopic™ April 2002 Monthly Report
Â*
April 2002 Infopop is pleased to present the OpenTopic™ April 2002 Monthly Report for carecure.atinfopop.com. In this issue, you'll find community metrics for last month's activity on your site, an OpenTopic™ product update, a tip on how to use the new Wordlet™ feature, and information about Infopop's new web hosting service. This report was prepared specifically for: carecure.atinfopop.com Statistics reported for period of: April 1-30, 2002 Members Total Registered Members: 1833 Total New Members: 149 Total Hours Usage Logged: 5353 Top Five Posters: Wise Young 453 Posts seneca 282 Posts DA 250 Posts SCI-Nurse 183 Posts Mary 178 Posts Top Five Topic-Starters: seneca 205 Posts Wise Young 125 Posts Max 94 Posts Dr. J. The current private topic tool will soon permit a topic host to invite new members after the topic has started. For those wanting a one-to-one private message to another user, clicking the contacts icons will offer a one step messaging service within their community. Slated as well for a 2.2.x release this Spring are highlighted topics, aka 'sticky topics', and an optimized content island cache for faster loading. The 'Online Now' feature has proved to be tremendously popular in communities. Expect new administrative tools to fine-tune the display settings and locations of this tool. For other ideas in the works or a great place to add your own ideas, please see The <http://community.infopop.net/2/OpenTopic?a=frm&s=729094322&f=051093422>OpenTopicâ „˘ Feature Suggestions forum. Customizing Text with the Wordlet™ Feature New in OpenTopic™ Version 2.2 is the Wordlet™ feature, which allows you to change virtually any text that appears on your board's interface. This can be used for translating your board into another language or simply for spicing up your theme! For example, if you were running a cooking community, you could change the word "Forum" to "Kitchen" wherever it appears. You can use the following steps to change your text using the Wordlet™ feature: Before customizing your Wordlets™, make sure that you are using the very latest Infopop II style sheet, as the older versions do not support this feature. Go to your Control Panel, and under the left hand navigation, select "Site-Wide Display" under the Look & Feel Category. Under The X-Face Theme, select "Infopop Default II", scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Update Settings". You will now able to use the new Wordlet™ feature. Log into your OpenTopic™ Control Panel, and from the left hand navigation, select "Wordlet Tool" under the Look & Feel Category. Here you will see five clickable options: Select from Wordlets, Add Wordlets, Import Wordlets, Export Wordlets and Remove all Customized Wordlets. 1. Click "Select Wordlets" to choose which Wordlets to view or modify. Here you can: Find specific words or phrases. Show all Wordlets. Show only Error and Information Messages or Notification Text. Browse Wordlets by screenshots-click the part of the page you'd like to change. Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Once you've found the Wordlets you'd like to modify, simply click "edit" and enter in Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*your desired text. Click "Update" at the bottom of the page. Your Wordlets are now Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*updated! 2. If you have customized your XSL, you can use the Add Wordlets option to add Wordlets to your site. This would primarily be useful if you have multiple sites with different themes or in different languages. Click on this option; enter a unique Key, a Value, a Context and Keywords. When finished, click "Add Wordlet" to add this wordlet. 3. To import Wordlet files from an XML file, select "Import Wordlets" under your Wordlet Tool menu. Browse for your file name and then click "Import Wordlets". Be aware that this may potentially replace added or modified Wordlets if the Wordlet keys are the same. 4. To export your Wordlets to a file, select "Export Wordlets" under the Wordlet Tool menu. Click "Export Wordlets" again and designate your Wordlets destination. This is particularly useful when you have multiple sites on which you'd like to use the same Wordlets, or if you just want to back up your Wordlet changes. 5. Your last option under the Wordlet Tools is to remove all of your customized Wordlets. Clicking this option will delete any changes to your Wordlets and your site will return to using default OpenTopic™ text. Click "Continue" to confirm this deletion.
