A poem - By Rusty

"We can all be angels to one another. We can choose to obey the still small stirring within, the little whisper that says, 'Go. Ask. Reach out. Be an answer to someone's plea. You have a part to play. Have faith.' We can decide to risk that He is indeed there, watching, caring, cherishing us as we love and accept love. The world will be a better place for it. And wherever they are, the angels will dance."

Pay the Philistines no never mind, Rusty, it's excellent.

Rusty...I won't criticize your poetry, as poetry is a personal thing and is appreciated by those who have similar experiences or feelings.

It just seems to me from reading your poems and essays that you spend a lot of time dwelling on the past. Maybe you're trying to relive it better in your present mind...we can't change the past and the present is what it is.

Kap,
Thank you for the sincere reply. A writer writes about the things (and places and people) that touch them the most. You write about the things you know, the things you've lived and tasted firsthand. Without a doubt my pre-sci life was a much richer, happier existance. I write about the present but not as much. It is bleak emotions tempered by realistic hope. Since I haven't lived the future I cannot write in that tense with any certainty. Is my quality of life less after the sci? The answer is a resounding YES! I won't even pretend to say that my life is ANYWHERE near what it was. I don't mind the solitude... but I miss the freedom. I miss the human touch of skin on skin. I miss sharing my heart with someone. I miss the feel of a motorcycle between my legs. I miss the feel of my body swimning. I miss the feeling of climax. I miss the experience of walking into a fine resturant and sitting normal ANYWHERE I want, and ordering ANYTHING I want-- without someone cutting it to pieces or eating via splint. I miss sailing at night... and opening doors for women... and flirting with strangers... I miss climbing in trees, and painting with my hands... and eating popcorn in the movies by myself... so, yes... I write more about those things than the shit I just took in my britches or the leg bag that leaked into my shoe or how many God damned pages I dropped on the floor today... mainstream America would not read my column nor buy my novels if I wrote about my current situation. Even I find it too miserable to read.

congradulations rusty, you finally wrote something i like. i think what i dislike about your writing is, like you said, you write for the readers. write for yourself and your own expression and leave it up to the readers to love or hate it. we are mostly all wheelers here, we'd love to hear whats really in the heart of a rusty ol' biker quad.
