CNN) -- Democratic presidential contenders on Wednesday condemned Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's warning that future cuts in Social Security and Medicare spending will be necessary.

Spooky...thanks GWB for taking the decade of no unemployment and actual budget surplus to a decade of deficit, lost jobs, and a threat to the very sustenance of some with sci.

It makes me almost want to quit working, and start collecting SSDI again, so that when I can't work anymore I won't be getting a monthly check that has been whittled away.

The last I heard from SS, they stated that when I resumed collecting SSDI, I'd get about $1800 - based on 2002 earnings. I'm afraid now that that figure won't hold up...the baby boomers are retiring, it's really spooky and should be in the forefront of our minds when we vote.

I debated posting this in the Politics forum, or here, in the Life forum. But because so many sci need their SS checks to survive LIFE, I thought it belonged here, also. But do whatever you please.

yes i just saw that too,
what sucks is these are plans that are paid into, i would be very happy to get my contribution money back to retire with as i please.
to take peoples money for over 30 years, with the intention its going to your retirement or disability, and than lower the payments is plan wrong.

RDF

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is a real quandry and it is getting difficult to have Medicare pay for the necessary equipment that we need. I continue to be aware of more cut backs as time goes on and I do not think it will get any better.
