How about using an ab binder? That usually cuts the circumference down somewhat.

My son is very broad in the shoulders, and has some belly, but he isn't lengthy in the torso so I would suggest you really compare sizes by laying them down on top of one another or holding them up together and looking from shoulder seam to seam and then look at the length difference...even three of the same size ~ you may be surprised.

I use an ab binder myself. This works well. I have heard arguments against this. Some say binder contributes to UTI. I don't know about that.

JT, "quad gut" results from a lack of tone in the abdominal muscles. Those with complete mid. thoracic and cervical injures are most affected. It has very little to do with over eating.

I saw a guy that I used to know in my AB days and his first comment was "Wow, have you put on weight!" I could have strangled they guy since I weigh the same as before and had to explain the "quad belly" thing. I tend to go with the big shirt look but I tuck it in alongside me a bit so it's less baggy up top.
