floor to chair level lift?

does anybody make a lift that would be for in the home. I've seen those 'bottoms up bars'. but, they would be just as straining as my current method.
I'm a bit of a klutz. so, I've perfected the floor-to-bed self lift. but, it is exhausting, straining, and I'm sure it's bad on my skin.
I love getting on the floor to stretch and do misc things. but, it's such a pain to get back up. any solutions?

I used my portable hoyer lift, but do you want something you could use independently?

I'm sorry. I guess I forgot to add that part. yes it needs to be something I can use independently.

nothing? I figured there was at least some savvy mechanical person out there that would tell me they had built one out of kitchen utensils and fishing line.

what about that chair that susan/superstar mentioned forever ago? how is it coming along as far as being available to the common peeps. do ya need a tester? I'll gladly volunteer my butt.

Amanda , before I started getting back any function below C5/6 and was in a chair , I had a mate make me a box out of plywood that was about the maximum height I could transfer up onto from the floor . There was a couch in the lounge-room of where I used to visit on week ends [ I was still in hospital/rehab ] , that was about twice the height of this box , but a bit lower than my chair . I then sat the box near the couch , in two goes bummed up onto the couch than transferred to my chair . Sorry , it is a fair while ago since I used this method , so i can't remember the dimensions of the box . If i had continued to need it , I was going to paint it , pad the top and ''disguise '' it as a footstool . Another thought i have had over the years to get around this problem , is to have a set of lightweight , movable ''dummy steps'' , probably padded , made to measurements that would make it easy to bum up and down for transfer to/from chair and floor .

Thank you ,
Dogger

As far as I know, this product is only available in the UK, but you might want to contact them to see if they have a USA vendor. I saw this demonstrated at a recent conference in the USA:

Mangar Emergency Lifting Cushion

she's still got hers & uses it from what I understand, but the concept hasn't made it into production... yet. I'm not sure of her timeline for that.

I was thinking something the same as dogger: Make 2 or 3 steps depending on how high you can lift. Pad them enough to protect your butt but not so much that you can't slide, round the corners for safety. Half length grab bars (or just a piece of 2x6) would help you lift to each higher level without twisting your back as you bump up.

Paint it pretty. hinge the tops for storage or if you have a cat cut a hole in the back for a fun fort.

If you're not handy with tools or don't have someone who could build a set of steps for you, you could consider pet steps like these that you could bump up backwards. It would be a stain on your shoulders though to do this repeatedly.

if you get an electric hoyer type lift with a u sling you can put your chair next to you, lift, and roll it under you once you are up.
