I appreciate all the information on the new chairs that are out there. How often is everyone replacing their chair? What do you think the "chair life" is?
Again, thanks for all the info. |

My Action AC lasted 7 years & I should have kept it going because the Action A-4 that replaced it barely made it to 4.5 years. I'm hoping to get 10 out of the ZRA.

While the tubes are fairly big you need to remember the cantilver frame design removes a lot of the tubing that is found in other rigid frame chairs. So while it is chunky looking from a front on view the chair lacks the bulkiness of other rigid frames. I think it looks pretty sleek myself.

My Quikie Revolution is literaly falling apart after two years. The kids will find nuts and bolts and bring them to me to see if they are from my chair.

I tried out 4 or 5 chairs before I left rehab last november...and I chose the ZRA. With this being my first chair, I really don't have that much to compare it to. I just know that I'm extremely happy with it.

Where and how have those who have purchased mail order tested the ZRA or other chairs? It seems it would be poor form to use the time and effort and borrow a chair for an extended test from a local DME supplier then purchase mail order.

. I then ordered my TR with the measurements and options I wanted (that 'professional' that measured me for my TRA while I was in rehab had me end up with a chair that was 2" too long), and 4 to 6 weeks later my butt sits on my nice new TR that I actually like. Check out various rehab places, they probably have a similar department where you can see what is available. You probably cant get an extended 'test drive' if you find a dealer that does that, but in my case I kind of right away know what I dont like or what looks cheesy.

Oh yeah its definately light really notice it when I'm lifting it in the car, my shoulders don't scream in protest & do the sound effects for a rice krispies commercial like they did with the A-4.
The cantilever frame really helps with loading into the car as well. Chair rolls really well with no vibrations when going over tile or other uneven surfaces. Will try & get some pictures of me in it before I take the roll of film in. Will try & weigh it tomorrow as well |
