What do you all do to keep your legs dry in the rain? I just got absolutely soaked....

Emi ~ I've been caught in my fair share of sudden torrential rain. I usually have a sweatshirt w/me (b/c the a/c in my classes is so low), so I drape it over my legs and walk w/a friend or somebody who has an umbrella. I still get a little wet, but, I'll dry.

The worse problem is the rims getting all wet and slippery!!! I hate that....and it is not like those fingerless gloves are the must-have fashion accessory of the season!!!!

Hi. I get to deal w/rain and snow. I usually just wear a gore tex parka and let my legs get wet. Occasionally, if I am going to be out for a while, I wear rain pants (gore tex and zip up the side). But those aren't really practical for in and out of the car to office/class/home whatever. I was thinking of getting a longer rain coat that might cover my thighs, but haven't figured out how to deal w/the excess in the back. Anyway, for now I will remain wet and vain and avoid ponchos (no offense to those wiser than me who go the poncho route). Instead of the fingerless gloves I wear full finger leather motorcycle gloves from Harley. They last longer and fit better than any other gloves I have tried. Plus it give you an excuse to check out the motorcycles at the local harley shop every couple of months.

Depending if I expect it or not. I have used ski gators with a poncho. Not ideal or fashionable but helps. I also wear lined sweat pants, fleece on the inside, nylon outside. They dry fast.

There is rain gear designed for use in wheelchairs. My mom has one of the ponchos from Rolli-Moden, which worked well when we were traveling in Alaska:

There are also wheelchair "chaps" which you can use to cover just your legs, and gauntlets, which will protect your sleeves from mud. You can combine these with a regular raincoat or short poncho:

You know what I hate the most about wet and cold rain? Whenever I am going down a hill, my tires slip and slide because they don't have good traction. I also have a problem with not being able to stop, due to my hands getting wet. Anyone else have those problems, or have any solutions for them?
