Trucks
I'm currently shopping for a pick-up truck. I need one with a driver side lift. I've seen a few Dodge Dakotas but would like some input as far as web sites, recommendations, ideas. Anything available for Fords, GM (Chevy), etc. ??? Also, what kind/type of lifts are there?
Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. |

here is a link to the local place that does conversions in Houston. They have links to most of the conversion and lift companies available own their site. Braun says they can convert the Dodge and the Ford pickup, but the locals tell me they are not ready with the Ford yet. That was a few months ago.

Forget the Ford!
Hey Chris, go for the Dodge, they're by far the nicest lookin trucks around. Their front end is awesome, well the whole body style rocks. Geez if ya got the bucks go for a Durango, they are the most beautiful machines ever made. Oh no, I don't recall seeing a Durango with eqipment, if not you might have to have the bloody thing crash-tested. Oh what I wouldn't do for one, maybe I'll win a loto? Yeah right aye! So Chris you gotta live out my dream ok.

The GMC is the way to go.
After looking at all the major truck lines. I found that the GMC Sierra has the biggest doors, full power seats, easy to use controls, biggest door handles. I'm a C-4,5 quad and it's worked great for me. Instead of getting a lift installed, I bought the 2 wheeldrive model and had airbag suspension installed so I can lower it to almost wheelchair seat heighth. Really easy for transfers. After i'm in, I raise the truck up by inflating the airbags. Check it out at the link below.

Thanks Everyone
Much appreciated.
It seems that the braunlift Carl is pretty exclusive with the Dakota pick-ups. Agreed Monkeygirl about the looks. You're cute and funny in your comments. The deal on the Dodge / braunlift is about, I'm being told, $20-$25,000 modification in addition to the cost of the truck. KVB does have a great product Pat but also, as you mentioned quite pricey. I think they charge about $30,000 for the conversion. Hoops24. Great, cool idea. I'm going to check it out. Maybe, given all the $$$ involved I'll just stay with the minivan. Super convenient although not my style at all. Thanks again. |

2002 GMC
Well your looking at buying a new truck, here is what i got.........
2002 GMC ext cab 4x4 black (not lowered)SLT leather power everything and on-star ($49000. the seat comes out and down to transfer on to, the power topper goes up on to it side (which is the cap) and there is a arm that comes out to pick up your wheel chair, the seat is called a bev turny ($10.000 bruno out-rider is the arm ($5400. and the cap is made at MRB enterprises(5100. all in canadian funds, so if that's the way you want to go,it's all there, but i like the lowered truck but it's only 2 wheel drive. all for the low price of around $79.000 bucks canadain. |
