Positive Note
On a positive note, the power steering went out as you were parking and not while driving. At least it was a safe evening and you all had a good time.
In answer to your rhetorical question....does the BS ever end.....I don't think it does, we just change how we view it and it reminds us that we are very human and alive. I say this as I am up to my knees in it!

Rus it seems not long back I remember you posting about your tenth anniversary, gawd how time flies!
I generally dont remember my anniversary, the day tends to come and go and its only a couple of days later that I remember it, and ususally a "phew, I'm glad I forgot" thought goes through my mind. Bummer about your van, I hope you can get it fixed soon, being without wheels can be a pain. Take care

BS
Does the bullshit ever end? It all depends who or what you have to deal with. This might have been my worst year ever, every week something was breaking. The worst thing has to be my shower chair, I just past the 6 week mark for get a seat, bearings and casters, the chair started falling apart under me. This was all explained to the wc repair department, I've called them once a week and it didn't make any differance.
I am totally positive that alot of people go to work and don't have a clue what the hell their there for. I think it's a sad time that you can get a gun quicker than medical supplies. |

''KEEP IT GOING''
HI SCORP,,,,GOOD FOR YOU THAT YOU MADE IT THROUGH 11 YRS. FROM READING YOUR POSTS, IT SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE DOING OK,,,''FOR THE/OUR GIVEN SITUATION, THAT IS.'' YOU'RE WORDS ARE SENSIBLE, YA SOUND HEALTHY. AND YA GOT A GOOD OUTLOOK.
RE; ''THE SCI BULL''. SCORP/CHEESECAKE/TVOT,,,,, ''SCORP,YOU'RE NOT ALONE, I HEAR YOU LOUD 'N CLEAR.'' THE PAST 8/27, I ''SURVIVED'' 21 YRS OF C-4/5 QUADHOOD. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT ''ONCE IN AWHILE'' GETS ME FEELING GLOOMY; ''IS THAT AFT 21 YRS, I WISH I HAD MY ACT TOGETHER MORE/IN MORE ORDER. BUT I FEEL LIKE I'M ON A 'NO-CHOICE' ROAD FILLED WITH BUMPS/PITFALLS/OBSTACLES [SCI BULLSHIT], THAT ALWAYS STALLS SOME CONSISTENCY THAT I GET GOING.'' EITHERWAY, I THANK GOD FOR MY HEALTH. TO ALL,,,,,,THINK POSITIVE AND KEEP ''BOBBING 'N WEAVING'' THROUGH THE BS. |

All - I often try and remind myself how much more effort it takes us as 'gimps' to do the simplest things, and I try and forgive myself for not measuring up like I'd like to when it comes to my life. Depending on severity of disability, many of us put more effort--both physical & emotional--into just getting up and out of bed than a lot of A/Bs put into their entire day. This is why things that might be an inconvenience but 'no big deal' to an A/B, like your vehicle breaking down, can seem like a very BIG deal. Hell, I'd probably have already fixed my van myself if I was an A/B, but then I wouldn't be driving a piece of shit van if I was an A/B, would I? At least if I was, the back would be filled with a surfboard, a skimboard or two, a bodyboard, towels, sunscreen and surf wax.
A good friend of mine once told me how frustrated he gets with being a high quad and how it's annoying when people tell him how he's inspired them. He said, "Everyone seems to benefit from me being a gimp--the insurance companies, the medical supply companies, the wheelchair manufacturer, even friends and family and strangers benefit by getting inspiration from me and my determination. When do I start to benefit from this hell, Rus?" Of course, I had no answer, and he wasn't really expecting one. But he & I agreed that one day our fight will be rewarded. We just hope its sooner rather than later. ~Rus "Because you're not promised tomorrow." ~ Stuck Mojo |
