My Wife
Well, those of you from CanDo know I gave only scant details about my marriage. Because I see a lot less potential here on CareCure for off-topic, personal attacks I feel more comfortable sharing details here.
I began planning a trip to the Philippines in 1999. I wanted to go somewhere exotic with good scuba diving, where the US dollar had a really good exchange rate, and where the people spoke pretty good English. This, in fact, is a pretty good summary of the Philippines! While conducting my travel research it was hard not to get sidetracked by all the Filipina Wives web sites. Megabyte after megabyte describing what good wives they were, not to mention all the introduction sites. After choosing to go to Cebu and maybe do some travelling from there, I started frequenting a chat room used by Filipinos. There I initially met my wife. After a few months I decided that if she was as wonderful in person as she was in emails, online chatting, and on the phone, I would ask her to marry me. She was. We decided to get married in the Philippines even though the immigration could take much longer than if she came to America to marry me. We decided this because she'd been dreaming of a certain wedding her whole life. My brother and his wife even came over to be in my wedding - he was my best man. It's a fifteen hour flight from LA to Manila, so this was no small favor he did for me. Here's a wedding photo. Yup, that's the cake. The wedding was in January of this year. After being separated for only a few short weeks I decided to wait out most of the visa process with my wife in the Philippines. I've been living here with her about 40 km N of Manila since March 11. It's been a trip, as they say. Here's a photo of us one evening in Rizal Park. It scanned a little blurry but it's closer to how she looks in real life. She'll be able to join me in the US in Dec or Jan. I'll have to be back in early Nov. I have a computer here in the Philippines and also fast cable Internet. I call the US for only $.02/min. That'll help keep the phone bills down after I leave and we're separated for a month or two. Getting married was the best thing I ever did. I wouldn't change a thing. I'll post more later. |

Jeff, what wonderful news. You look relaxed and happy. I was wondering what I missed from CanDo when I logged in here and you were suddenly married. All the best to you and your lovely bride.

Thanks, Everyone
Thanks, Sci Mom - I feel the same about my wife and also that cake, lol.
Thank you, Cheescake - Yup, I'm sure it seemed very sudden. For me, though, it was about time! Thanks to you, Dr. Young - We have plans to surprise you in 2002 and show up for an open house. It's an honor for us to be a part of this web site. Thank you, too, Martha - My wife smiled when she got to the word "romantic" in your post. That earned me a few points! Thanks, Bob - We're only a few hours from Australia. I'm tempted to come over and look up a wealthy roommate of mine from my college days. Maybe they'd want to support some research. ![]() Melissa - Nice stache? Geez, I had a full beard, remember? Beards aren't popular at all in the Philippines. Not even neat-looking ones like I had. I didn't even bother trying to keep it. My stache didn't last long, either. On the bright side, I look younger with a clean shave.
