SEATTLE - The woman who was encouraged by some Seattle motorists to jump off a bridge is now being showered with gifts and flowers.

The woman - whose identity is not being released - is hospitalized in serious condition with a spinal fracture and chest and abdominal injuries.

She's expected to make a full recovery from her 160-foot fall into the Lake Washington Ship Canal.

Police closed the Ship Canal Bridge for part of the day Tuesday as the woman stood poised to jump, reportedly because she was distraught over a relationship.

Stalled motorists mocked her as she hesitated for three hours before stepping off.

Some local motorists are still angry at her.

They sent e-mails to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, saying she should have chosen a less-traveled site to end her life.

But dozens of people have sent flowers, and more than 100 people have called the hospital to wish the woman well.
