Tennis & driving
I know a number of people with SCI who play tennis, and in Southern California there are several active programs that teach tennis as well as sponsoring competition. What part of the country are you in? Here is a link to one tennis site, although its emphasis is more on competition than learning:
http://www.sportsladders.com/wctennis/ You might want to check with the recreation therapy department at your nearest large SCI rehab center for some local contacts. In our area there is a pretty active junior sports program which include clinics and camps, with many of the coaches being active adult wheelchair athletes. For driving, I would also suggest getting referrals from your closest SCI rehab program. If she has a paraplegic injury learning the controls is pretty straight forward, but it is a little more complex for those with quadriplegic injuries. (KLD) |
