MONTANA NEUROSURGEON
I wish to add another positive resource for others:
My brother (age 42 at the time) sustained a C5-7 incomplete SCI on 8/8/01. He was life-flighted out of Kalispell after one hour in the E.R. to stabilize him enough for the flight. (The neurosurgeon in Kalispell was unavailable.) He was taken to St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, MT. After a halo was placed on him, he underwent surgery the following day. As "fate" would have it, Ron ended up with a neurosurgeon who we are greatly indebted to. Dr. Mack told Mom and I that Ron had a "50% chance of walking again". Last month on a trip to MT. (he's currently living with me in Calif.), we stopped and saw Dr. Mack to thank him. Ron is currently walking in a therapy pool unassisted. Dr. Mack revised his initial prognosis to "100% walking - on land!" Dr. Mack's humble bedside manner, patience at explaining all details regarding Ron's case, and the kudos we heard from staff have proven to us that Dr. Mack is a very special person indeed. We know that only so much can be done by a skilled surgeon's hands - the rest is left to individual circumstances - with each person being different. Dr. Mack's skill clearly gave Ron optimum chance for recovery. Ron also took that initial 50% prognosis, his monumental determination, and the absolute support from Dr. Mack, to get where he is today. I wish to let others know that my family gives a thumbs up to Dr. Mack in MT. Below are the details of how to contact him, etc. taken from his business card: Dr. Chriss A.
