Cure Forum's Purpose
I'm very sorry if I've hurt anyone's feelings by calling some of these threads boring.
I think in my heavy handed way I was protesting against some of the cure forum's content. I come to the cure forum to read about what therapies are potentially going to get us walking around (and when) and using our hands (for those who currently can't) and of course able to have plenty of good old fashioned sex. Of course politics has a HUGE role to play in advancing or, more likely, hindering the cause but should that not be discussed in the politics forum? I want to come to the cure forum and go away thinking there is real hope but most of what I'm reading are long almost incomprehensible threads about US politics. Does anyone strongly agree or disagree with my viewpoint? |

i strongly agree with you chris and i have 2 questions,
1-why only speak about U.S.? in other countries don´t have ESC restrictions to research and nobody tells anything about. 2- if much people in this forum don´t believe in a cure in near future, why post in cure forum?? if cure comes in 25 years like most of them think, they will be death or imposible to cure. i never understand this. |

Isildur,
Many of the topics in the Cure forum in fact are about treatments overseas. Most of our members are from the U.S. and of course most of the news is from English-language sources. Please don't assume that there are no restrictions of embryonic stem cell use in other countries. For example, Italy has banned ESC research. I think that it may be quite difficult for people in most Catholic countries to do ESC research, including Spain, Portugal, and most of South America. The most important function of the Cure forum is to provide people with reliable information concerning potentially curative therapies. Many people who come to the forum may not be convinced that a cure is possible in the near future and they may be looking for reasons to believe. In fact, I believe that some people post that they don't believe so that they can have others convince them that they are wrong. Wise. |

It would be great if politics and cure were two completely different issues. Unfortunately in this country, at this time they are both intertwined. You would think that the scientists would be leading us down the path to a cure without being bushwacked (no pun intended
)by the politicians
