9 years sci today-43 yrs AB

9 yrs ago today I was injured at age 43. That's a lot of years of brain connections and habits to change! I have been finding a "new normal", but some things, like the desire to hike in our forest being one, I think will never change. My husband and friends have helped me push through some trails, but I still really miss the pound of my feet on the dirt and hopping on boulders, etc.

Still, I'm grateful becuz I have found quite a bit of return as I have pushed hard to exercise (although I know its not just that if you "try" you can do it, because from my knees down I have tried the same and nothing...) And also becuz I have learned to do more than I thought I would and have super supportive people in my life.

So there's some sad and some happy today. Maybe I'll call it our "survive & thrive" day...

Congrats on your 9 year S & T day!

I miss hiking myself. Do you have a Freewheel, they make it soo much easier getting along in the woods.

Jim, I got one for my birthday this June and have been able to do so many more things this summer. I love it!

I just blogged about a couple of them with pics if you want to see.

And I just realized the actual date is Fri, I looked at August! But I'm thinking all week about what I can do now that I didn't think I'd be able to do again, so I'll take the "congrats" early!

Thank you! (I love these little animated icons!)

Darla, those are great pics and I love your blog! What a great family you have, too. Here's another animated toast...this one to continuous joyful discoveries of options and places to go!

I totally got the date mixed up this week. I realized its really Fri. So I decided to post 2 things every day thru Sat. That will add up to stories & pics about 10 things I didn't think I'd do again...

Yesterday-berry picking and Mt trail
Today (tonight)- getting in a pool and swimming independently & large scale kitchen cooking projects...
Tomorrow?- not sure yet, but I'm going through pics of the past 9 yrs and finding lots of things.

This has turned into something uplifting. "Survive and Thrive" WEEK!
