I need a nanny cam

well, once again, I am positive someone (maintenance guy) is letting himself in.
My (not loud ones) upstairs neighbors has the same thing going on. this time I heard someone upstairs tiptoeing when they were at work, then a huge crash.
Neighbors asked if Id heard a crash, and I said yes, but I though you were home because I hear "fuck!" and then footsteps. well maintenance guy was asking the neighbor for pain pills just as he was to me. specifically Tramadol.
aside from the vicodin a year ago, that is the other item that disappeared. I do not take tramadol, it was my roommates leftover from a year ago when he wrenched his back. guess what maintenance guy is into?

anyway Im sick of this shit, I want to catch him and press charges, and then we are all moving. four apartments. three of us are disabled or using meds. all on limited incomes, so can't afford the 5-600 for the ones I see online.

Does anyone have a nanny cam? I had borrowed a deer cam, but He spotted it.
Also we have tons of wildlife, and neighborhood kitties, so it went off a lot, and ran down the batteries, so, I need to do something else. The property owner has also been seen going in an out of peoples apartments when they are not home, but he says he is "inspecting." Both of them know they only have to knock on any of our doors and they can inspect all they want, but not when people are not home.

so Im out to get proof as are the rest who have chatted with each other and then asked me if id had a problem with someone snooping around.

I am absolutely certain this is happening, but I must prove it or I can't afford to move.

Ask the police if there is a camera you can use and tell them that the person is after drugs that are necessary to your health. I don't know if they can help you, but it might be worth the try.

Go online and see if there are cheaper cameras available. I know that there are.

good idea. I'll look into that. basically we all want a leg to stand on, when the shit hits the fan. Im so pissed off, Im wondering if he started in on the neighborhood because I can't go anywhere since the unstable blood pressure thing. We can't even tell the property owner because he does it too.

this is such a nice place, nice apartments, two are just moving out when the lease is up, so only two of us will be putting up a cam. I kinda want to just move too, but feel people should not be able to do that to others and get away with it.

this has not been the best summer ever. we thought about changing locks, but by law landlord must have a key, and he can give a key to whoever he wants.

What about just leaving the computer on (monitor off) with a webcam running and recording onto say an external hard drive. Fast forward through and erase at the end of the day if he's not on it to save space. You can even set it up to view remotely.

I'll try and brainstorm some other cheap/free solutions.

These things work great, when it senses motion it will call your cell phone once programmed to do so and you will know somebody is in your place. http://www.amazon.com/Motion-Activat.../dp/B000ZHXTDI You could set up high so a cat or dog would not activate it. You can set it with either a silent or auditable alarm which is very loud and would scare the hell out of him plus call you. That should put a end to it.

im wondering about lighting. My apartment has only been entered during the day, twice, I was in the shower, and heard the doors hit the door jambs when the front door caused a vacuum. I got out in time see his flannel shirt tail the one time, and saw the front door shut the second time. The one time I was sure, he claims to have knocked, because he said he left tools in here the day before when he came to change the air filters. After that, we get our own, and give the landlord a receipt that we replaced them. Roomies car was in the shop, so he used mine. both times this had happened, my truck had been borrowed so he thought I was not home.
The neighbor though, is gone in the evenings. He ordered the same ones. I guess we will have to keep the outside lights on?

thanks for the replies, Iv been feeling a little on the outside of ccc the family lately.

Curt, we did try borrowing a motion activated deer cam. we have stray cats, and lots of wildlife outside,and my cats inside. and the guy noticed it eventually, I saw his eyes widen when he saw it. I told him it was for the bear we have coming around. these are going to be easy to conceal.

I do have an alarm on the front door that I put on when Im alone or in the shower. one of those cheep loudass magnet and string activated.
