C. diff After Stopping Antibiotics?

Can you get Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD) after you've stopped taking antibiotics?

Yes, sometimes the symptoms do not become severe for weeks.

Oh yes, and if you do call your doc before it does a serious number to the lining of your intestines.

I just found this and the answer is yes, up to 2 months after taking antibiotics......especially cephalosporins (Cefadroxil - Duricef, Ultracef, Cefazolin, Ancef, Kefzol, Cephalexin, Keflex)

"CDAD must be considered in all patients who present with diarrhea following antibiotic use. Careful medical history is necessary since CDAD has been reported to occur over two months after the administration of antibacterial agents."

With me it takes about 2 days after I start Cephalexin. YMMV

Hope you're feeling ok.
