C6 incomplete - appreciate your assistance

Hi all,

My name is Omri, 31 years old, 14 months ago after shallow water accident I had a C5comparison fraction, Asia B, with neurological diagnosis of C6. I was in rehabilitation hospital for 12 months. Thanks to my family, friends, luck and very hard work I got after few months a prograss and today I am using only crutches for short/medium+ distances. Right hand fingers functional but week, left hand fingures very very week. no b&b control, weak abs and trunk. No cold and heat/pain feelings under the chest, frequent feeling of "burn" on the skin. Despite all that I know that I was vey lucky and first I wish to everyone lots of health, strong spirit and self fulfilment.

I would like to share my thoughts and feelings with you.
After 1.2 years since the accident, I feel that the prograss has almost stopped. I'm defeniatly not a quiter person, with a very long military background as a combat officer. Saying tat, I feel that as much as I work hard, I'm not making the leap to the next phase, it is very frustrating (again, I'm sorry if it sounds too spoiled because of my prograss, but I aim for getting as good as possible).

Wondered if there are people which can give me advice, that went through the same phases, and despite the feeling of a bit tiredness of rehab, and hitting a Plato, did overcome it and had a major prograss after.

Would appreciate your advice,

Omri

I am similar to you. C4/5 walking with forearm crutches. B/B have some but limited sensation or control. Still on bowel program. Some sensation below the neck. 18 months post. I still, very slowly get some sensation or motor function return. The more you work out and force activation I believe you force the nerves to do something. So the more the better. Stay strong and keep moving.

We're all different in our recoveries, you are close to the supposed end of major recoveries, but if you read older posts, you will find people with improvements down the road, the thing is to keep doing as much as you can and don't let it get you down. Good luck and give it hell.
