Hello all.
Just another quick update. My FIL is still progressing. He seems to be doing well. He can still drink liquids without a straw and his tremors have decreased again. (They stopped and came back). He is also working out daily and you can see his muscle mass and energy returning. It is slow but steady. While he is not making huge leaps and bounds in his healing.....he ISN'T GETTING ANY WORSE! Which in itself is a major feat! I am still getting many e-mails from people about him and I ask that you all be patient. I am replying as soon as I can. You have not been ignored. I also have received my MIL's permission to give out her home phone number and you will be able to contact her directly. Also, it looks like 60 minutes is going ahead with a story on Dr. Huang. We aren't sure if they will concentrate on the ALS or SCI part of his treatments. But to make a long story short, there was a 60 minutes correspondent on the plane back from China with them. My MIL got to speak to him and that got the ball rolling. All I know is that 60 Minutes is doing the leg work and research for a story right now. I will let you know more when I get confirmation. But they have talked with Dr. Huang. Now with a "major" conservative like Nancy Reagan on "our side" maybe we will see some stateside action. My MIL wants to try and get Dr. Huang a clinic here in the U.S. to try and give people hope. Cheers! Marcie |

Yeah! Good news today. First my FIL played tennis for the first time in MONTHS! His partners said he seemed more "on it" this match. Great news, eh? He still isn't up to par, but is determined to get back to full function. LOL. Go away ALS!
Second, I have a contact in California who forwarded me Nancy Reagan's office address. Are there any people interested in a writing campaign to her? I know that OEG are not Stem Cells...but the controversy seems to be over where they get the cells. Anyway,ALS and Alzheimer's are "similar" diseases and I think she may be interested. I know it might seem "tacky" with her recent loss....but I am sure she has a staff member that opens most of her mail! If you are interested e-mail me. iublondie25@yahoo.com Obviously, this is not restricted to ALS or all about it. I want to bring more exposure to Dr. Huang's procedure. iublondie25 - good to hear your FIL is experiencing some recovery.
Anybody knows if Dr. Huang is performing this type of surgery on Alzheimer patients? My father suffers from severe Alzheimer due to several strokes, and he's going to turn 80 this year. I'm not sure if he would benefit from OEG transplants (assuming that he'd qualify for that kind of procedure). Thanks in advance, lel P.S. iublondie25 - how old is your FIL? (if I may ask?) |

Lel,
I am not sure if it would work on Alzheimer patients...or if Dr. Huang has performed it on them. But it can't hurt to ask....... My FIL will be 77 this month. Good Luck, Marcie Marcie iublondie25@yahoo.com |

I wanted to let you know it hasn't been the best week. I will find out more later tonight as we are going to celebrate his 77th birthday. But my husband told me his father has lost two pounds and isn't eating very well.
We believe it is ALS and depression related. Marcie ![]() Marcie iublondie25@yahoo.com |

Thanks for posting. Hopefully it's just a bump in the road to revitalization. Our best wishes and hopes for further improvement are with your FIL and family.
