Hi All,
Suffered a back injury Oct 2010.Haven't worked since. I have a difficult time doing simple daily chores. The pain is relentless. My wife is completely disabled with serious back problems. Can't sleep can't eat never ends. I'm told my MRI is not that bad so why all the pain? Can any one help. Thanks |

You post is too generic for anyone to help you. Do you have a spinal cord injury? Are you paralyzed? What level, complete or incomplete?

Sorry for generic post. I have mild bulgeL5-s1. Degerative disc. Pain in hips pain in legs. Some numbness in lower legs and feet. Have been on Vicoprophen and now also on Gabapentin for nerve pain.

My advice would be find a good pain doctor, get into physical therapy and go back to work. You shouldn't let a mild bulge in your L5 disk rule your life.

the disks may be compressing the cord a bit. you definitely need pt and some strength training

Where do you live? I can suggest doctors for the Seattle/Tacoma area that deal with those that have chronic pain.

Have had Pt for 6 months. Have had physical capacity exam. Can't sit for more than 15 mins, can't stand for more than 20 mins. Spent my life working on cars. Spent the last 6 yrs building heavy machines. Now can't lift or carry more than 20 lbs without pain. Been on pain management since 2010. "go back to work" Never wanted to leave work! Easier said than done. I have a difficult time cooking dinner any more. I how my problem is Minor compared to others, but still in a lot of pain from the waist down. Was hoping someone has seen a case when not much shows on MRI but possible issue may be hidden. I don't feel I should be in so much pain. Before this happened I could drive 6 hrs straight to my mothers, now can't drive 30 mins without terrible pain.

Jaybirds no one can look at an X Ray or MRI and see another persons pain, some people who have a "perfect" back are in enormous pain and some with "shredded" backs feel none, but anyone who is in enormous pain will have signs and symptoms of such in some way that they can not control that will be apparent to a trained expert, you are not apparently doing that and your test results are showing nothing physically that would cause such pain so the Doctor must dismiss you as Possible "malingerer", if you are on Pain Management already you are basically ahead of a lot of people-what is it exactly that you want from your Doctor? and have you seen a Neurologist yet ? or is this an issuse of you need this Doctor to sign off on a disability claim and they will not because they do not believe you are sufficiently impaired for disability and you are trying to make them change their mind, so what is it that you want from them?? and why not Just go to a different Doctor if you feel they are under treating you

Hi Everyone, Does anyone know of or go to a "Caring Pain Management Doctor who will actually listen to the patient when they express to the Doctor that the Medications that you have been using for several months, have somehow stopped taking the pain away, or even stopped "calming the pain down" so your life could be somewhat "normal"? My Doctor that I am seeing every month is very conservative when it comes to prescribing Narcotic Medications, (which is a plus for me, but it is also a "Catch 22") My Family doctor recommended and referred me to him. Does anyone think that a "second opinion" would be "out of line". I hesitate to do this because I am so grateful for being able to go to a "legitimate" Pain Management Doctor, but playing the "Devil's Advocate" I believe that every patient has the right to a "second opinion" and also being involved to the fullest extent when it concerns their Health. Anyway, I live in Cape Canaveral Florida and I discovered by belonging to this awesome website that there are members who will help you in anyway they can, so I am asking for your help, knowledge and opinions and the main help I need is your experience with a "Pain Management Doctor" who you believe to be the best in Central Florida, Brevard County areas around or near Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island etc. Then I will be on my way to a "second opinion" which we all should take advantage of. I have Insurance if this is an issue. Thanks so much and I hope to hear from you soon Fran Have a Safe and PAIN FREE 4th of July Holiday and pray for a PAIN FREE life for all of us in the very near future. It is going to happen!!!!
