haha i cant sleep either! i had a nightmare i was being stabbed, only to wake up to somehow quickly get to the bathroom for period related explosive diarrhea! i made it... barely... i think i was scared shitless? lol

i have noticed she is always wearing a scarf but i assumed it was because she was cold. i'm always cold so i carry one with me in case it gets too bad. i hate not being able to regulate my temperature!

cryptic I LOVE your advice: "if a hot guy asks to carry something for you, say yes."

Ladies, whenever possible let yourself be picked up and carried by a handsome fella. Gentlemen, likewise encourage ladies to sit in your lap. If once is LBGT adjust the rules according to your preference!

Seriously though the envy thing doesn't gain anybody anything. There will always be someone that has more of something (function, ability, strength, beauty, money, power) than you do. Whether one is 'able-bodied' or 'non-able-bodied'. Life hands us plenty of painful and sad things as it is; why add to them?

very true! it reminds of the same stuff a lot of kids face when they first go to college. that age old metaphor of the being the big fish in a small pond and going to being at a place where everyone was big fishes in their own ponds. so it's an adjustment for sure! same with life. people are always compare what they don't have to what others do.

but yes i have let many a cute guy carry something and simultaneously check out their cute buns. call me shallow but the view is good from down here

By the way, I wasn't fantasizing about being a para (nor do I think leshinsky was), and I totally agree that if you're going to fantasize you should go for the full, able body.

But all this pontificating in this thread about "envy" and "comparing yourself to others" just misses the point, and I'm not going to devote any more time trying to help people get that point, because I think you either get it or you don't (due to any number of reasons).

At the end of the day, someone being reminded of what SCI has stolen from them is simply being reminded of incredible loss that is compared within themselves to their former selves, and what could have been.

Push Girls My .02

It is what it is, Hollywood, empowered, can do anything cripples. A little to much emphasis on still looking good, that's Hollywood, cripples can do anything, that's Hollywood and you know there will be drama like the spasms can cause a stroke. I would like to give it some more time and hope it gets real but my guess is it won't.

A few years ago my wife suggested I film my day and call it Quad Life but I thought who would watch that lol.. I think I was right no one wants to watch the real thing and that's just life. You put some cute, young, very functional girl paras in LA rolling around doing amazing and inspiring things and the general public might watch.

Is it real? No but is any reality tv real? I think not. I don't know how the Quad girl (Angelia) get around but maybe they will show that sometime. I don't know if she drives (haven't seen it yet) but she can't push her chair like the other paras, she would never keep up. Maybe that 24 hour nurse is there but they don't show them.

Now does it help or hurt our cause? Who knows, all I know is it doesn't effect my day to day life so as I said it is what it is and I don't think it will last.

Anyone know what kind of wheels Angela uses? I love that teal color that both the rim and the hub is. I hadn't seen any wheels before where you can choose a color for the rim and hub. Only colored spokes and something like plain, black, or gold hubs.

What turned me off before the show started that 2 said it was the best thing that ever happened to them.
Anybody sane would never say something like that.
Its the worse thing that ever happened in my life.
Wait 20 to 40 years see what they say then.

I won't waste my time seeing the damm show.

Yep deliberately missing the point. There seems to be some silly bravado being expressed around here.

i highly disagree. i get what scorpion is saying, hence why i said different perspectives. i am not having "silly bravado" nor am i in denial (really hard to be in denial when i had to clean diarrhea off the bed and myself at 2:30 this morning with NO help)

but to say those things about people because they do not experience what you've experienced is quite sad, really. you shouldnt disparage others because their experience differs from yours. yea SCI has some tough times, but currently my life is far more rich and rewarding than most ABs i know. i've been through worse. no one is guaranteed perfection.

I wish it showed any of them doing anything productive. :/ Going to school, working, activism, raising kids, interacting with AB society... this is such a fantastical view of one clique that it borders on parody. Auti's story line with the dance competition couldn't have been written better... The producers must have wet themselves on that one, and I (personally) hate the stereotype that noone in a wheelchair feels anything. (I feel like it makes it harder on us incompletes)

The spasm situation was ridiculous. It's like she doesn't know what AD is. The amount of help she (the girl married to 21 jump street dude) said she needs is ridiculous, The conversation about indentations in this thread is ridiculous (do it yourself, ladies!), The piggyback from the effing toilet was ridiculous... (I winced) but I'll watch it anyway- to see what these ladies are putting out there for the world to assume about chicks like me (in a chair).

btw, chick- you say these chicks look more like Jersey than CA, you just haven't been to Cali lately.
