A new dog is actually my present. We are working on it. I have to curb my way a bit to satify my parents, but if they want to PAY for a purebred dog rather than adopt a free one, who am I to argue? I'm looking into Terrier breeds. I'm eyeing Toy Fox Terriers. You should google those little dogs. OMG! How adorable!

I'm totally for adopting and I love mutts, but my parents have concerns that don't bother me, i.e. my dad is worried adopting a dog means you may get one mentally affected in a negative way. I told my dad, "Why do you keep me around then?" LMAO!

The toy fox terriers come from puppy mills, probably. I'd get a rescued dog from a shelter. As to mental problems, one would think it's more prevalent in bred puppies than in mutts.

Don't buy from a pet store.

Todd, consider visiting some shelters and see what they have. Lots of good dogs end up there for different reasons.
Some of the puppy mill dogs are so inbred they are neurotic and have birth defects.
A woman I exercise with just spent $1000 for knee surgery on her designer (teddy bear?) pup and that is what the vet told her.
