Note to self: resist the temptation to stay in the chair overnight!

Ami, I am so sorry this happened to chad. That really looks serious but similar to a burn I had several weeks ago on the top of my thigh. As everyone said, there really is nothing you can do until it either absorbs on its own or pops. When mine popped , about 10 Days later, I started drenching it with the vetericyn. My woud is pretty much cleared up with just a little bit of scabbing.

I too have pulled a few all nighters in my chair if not even 48 hours. Not a smart choice but I at least have sensory to know I was in pain, if that is a consolation. I hope you're able to get it under control for him because I have had a few there and I could see it would be very painful if he could feel. A very difficult spot to heal

Just curious, why would you "pull an all nighter" in your chair. It has never crossed my mind to do that. I have worried that I might have to if something happened to an airline flight I was traveling, but otherwise....

All the best,
GJ

Ami, not sure how much success you have had with the vetericyn in the past but seriously, drench it in some gauze and apply it. According to your picture, it really doesn't look worse than the burn I just had. Good luck

I have been drenching telfa pads with microcyn and then taping it down to his skin 2x a day. As for an air bed, that is something we both think he may need, but to get one ordered, he'd have to see a doctor. But to see a doctor, he'd have to get up in his chair. Which obviously he absolutely cannot do. So what the heck can we do? If it gets worse and not better I really really worry about this conundrum.

And just for fun, he is developing pressure sores in other areas of his body where I have propped him up to keep pressure off of THAT sore, including his arm and chest. The blisters on his arms popped and I have them covered in microcyn too, and they are very very superficial, I am not worried about them. He has some on his chest though because he slept mostly face down last night because he ALSO has a smallish pressure sore on the same iscial bone but on the other leg (that has been there all along, I didn't even mention it originally). It is dime sized, but has started to grow, so we flipped him face down more or less last night. So now his CHEST has pressure sores.

I'm not being careless, I swear. I am propping him carefully, using smooth sheets, sheepskins, and doing everything humanly possible to avoid sores. This is a nightmare. This has never happened before, where he gets sores OTHER places where I've propped him to avoid pressure on a sore.

OWWWEEE...I always took Pride in the fact that I had never gotten a pressue/bed sore. Well that went right out the window 3weeks ago after surgery. I had been on my back for 3 days. Day of Surgery..the day after for post op and when I came home I had been so so comfortable on my back..a position I cant stand for long. On the 4th day I was itching my Tush and there it was. By this time I had been off of it for several days and it had already began to heal itself and scab over. Lucky Me. It still was very red and hurt like the Hinges of Hades. I kept it clean. Applied Aquaphor made by Eucerin which you can buy at Walmart and applied low heat. It is completele healed. You might want to seek medical attention. These can go from bad to worse very fast. My best to you.
