Question My computer won't move!

It stopped moving (taking forever) after I downloaded something I thought was Windows xp. It said it would help. grrrr

Anyway I have an emachine & window xp & use Internet Explorer.

I went to my programs to see if I could figure out what shouldn't be there to remove it. Should I have Apple Application Support or Apple Mobile Device Support, & Apple Software Update?

Also when I downloaded that stuff (which I'll never do again!) it added a search on my bottom tool bar that says "search desktop." In programs it says Windows search 4.0. That's probably it. Can I delete that?

I see 2 drivers:

2 from Realtek
1 Intel graphics media

Also

Windows Media player 11
Windows Medis format 11 runtime

Can I delete any of these?

thanks! Mona

Mona, everything you've mentioned sounds legitimate. Are you saying that your computer has started to run slow?

Try going to start>control panel>add or remove programs. Look for something you don't recognize that has been added recently.

Mona,

If you download HijackThis: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/, run it and either post the output to this thread or PM it to me I can tell you what you should remove and if you have any nasties on your machine.

Foolish that's what I did when I wrote that. It's from my add/remove program.

T8burst, thanks I'll do that!

If it was me I would:

Uninstall adaware
Uninstall avg
Uninstall noads
Uninstall windows desktop search

Go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...ity-essentials

No nasties. I thought wormraider was one but it is part of avg.

Also just to be anal:

Start Hjt log - click Scan.
Once the page has opened - put a Tick mark against these entries and click Fix.

Thanks for helping me.
But I'm confused adaware gets rid of my spyware.
Avg is my antivirus program.
Noads stops pops ups!

So why them?
