Oh...yes, I see the distinction you are making. Fair enough. Sorry for misunderstanding you. Thanks for the clarification.

You have that option now. Which was pointed out to you, and you replied that it was "stupid" and that what would make "everyone" (you) happy is if the manufacturer offered it themselves. E.g. paying more for less options.

Trust me doc, you'll want the suspension. Found a higher than average curb (probably 7") last night, jumped off it and didn't feel a thing, no sound, no bouncing around, had to look back to make sure there was a curb there because it sure didn't feel like it. Absolutely amazing! In my XTR there would have been a loud thud and I would have bounced a couple times. Couldn't imagine the jolt my spine would have taken with no suspension. I must say I am very happy with this chair. Only wish they came out with it 11 years ago

There's a 9 incher in my neighborhood I've taken with my Tilite TR and that is a HARD landing. I don't plan to come off something that high everyday, jeez, but it's nice to know that if I have to I won't have that horrible jolt. Oh did I feel it the last time I took that one.

I think here is a problem with language, what i see stupid(wasn`t what you have said) or maybe is not the best word, could be "redicolous" is a manufacturer telling to the customer to take the wheelchair to anywhere that does powdercoating if wants another colour.
Why they don`t do it for the customer if pay for it? when i refer everyone was everyone, not me, i`m not going to buy an Icon so... but sure could be someone who like the Icon but would prefer it in another colour, so if they give the option everyone who is thinking in getting an Icon will be happy, don`t you think?

Be careful first days with your Icon going down big curbs, improve your tecnique in big curbs, going down that curb same as you have done it with your TR could make you fall backwards.
Your chair have to be nearly horizontal when your rear wheels touch the floor.

I used to do the occasional big curb, but no more. I have the technique but it's not worth the jolt to my body. I don't know how much of the impact a shock will absorb from a jump like that, but I'd rather search for either a shallower drop or a curb cut (if available).

No problem with language. You think it's "ridiculous" to have to go elsewhere to get colors. I don't, and it fits into icon's entire theme as far as being able to go multiple places and choose where you want to go for parts and upgrades without needing it straight from the manufacturer. So I found it "ridiculous" to pick that as an issue with the chair. I don't want a black or titanium colored chair. If I could afford an icon I would gladly look around for the best place to get it painted or powdercoated. Only true argument for having the manufacturer do it was if insurance paid for the chair but obviously would not pay for an extra paint job elsewhere. But since we're discussing a chair people pay for out of pocket, it's an advantage to the buyer to be able to go anywhere.

Even when icon starts offering colors, they are going to be a limited amount. Every manufacturer only offers a limited amount. If they offer things like custom multiple color jobs, it's going to cost more than going to a business that does custom powdercoating all day long. The business that does it all day long is also going to have more colors available.

You said Jeff must know more places for powdercoating than you. Well, then you would just ask him if you were buying an icon! It's not as if he's diffcult to reach about questions. So him knowing more places also isn't a valid argument.

Grr, I'm having issues posting from my phone.

Anyway, I am not an icon groupie. I'll probably never own an icon since I could not afford it out of pocket. But I guess I'll see once the K5 is released, and if that has an optional upgrade to suspension or something like that. I'd love a chair with a suspension, since my biggest mobility issue is joints saving impact would help me. My forearm crutches have a shock absorption and 'rebound' thing.

Call me devils advocate or whatever, I saw a flaw in the argument (debate, discussion, whatever you want to call it) and pointed it out. Hope I've helped anyone interested in the icon but holding back due to color.
