Urine Catheter
Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am a C4/5/6 Quad. I previously use normal urine catheter but I have to put it on again 2-3 times a day as it tends to go off. It is very annoying especially during sleep time. I Google for better urine catheter, & found products such as Gee Whiz & Coloplast, as well as strap that wrap onto the normal urine catheter to prevent leakage. May I know which one is more suitable & economical? Kindly advice. Thank you. |

I found Gee Whiz hard to put on, they leaked and slipped off, and are expensive. The next one I tried was the Rochester Wide Band with skin prep and have been happy. My main concern isn't leakage, it's skin irritation with prolong use. You have to monitor it closely with condom catheters.

Hello "tmnalma,"
Welcome to the Care Cure Community. There is a wealth of information on this website and all you have to do is ask questions and/or search the site for information and discussions that members have posted in the past. Try searching this site for "male external catheters," "condom catheters." Here are a couple threads to get you started: http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/showthr...ernal+catheter http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/showthr...ernal+catheter http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/showthr...ernal+catheter All the best, GJ |

Thanks for advice. May I know whether they are reusable? Because I need to do intermittent catheterization 2-3 times a day?

tmnalma, I assume you are talking about external condom catheters, not indwelling catheters (like a Foley) which are urethral or suprapubic, or a staight catheter used for intermittent catheterization.
It would be very helpful for all of us if you would complete your profile. (KLD) |

I have a diving accident in 1996. Broke my neck and injured the spinal cord at C4/C5/C6. No feeling from chest down (including no feeling whether hungry or full). No finger movement. Only thumb and index fingers have sensation. Intermittent catheterization 4 times a day. Left kidney still swell. Bladder and right kidney normal. No bowel move, take fruit juice and prebiotic to B.O. once 2-3 days.
