The first such conference I attended was in 1984. I came away very hopeful and I guess my only complaint (someone will call it whining) is that there is still nothing for us. BUT, I believe we could be close - I hope I am not wrong............ |

I am not sure why an individual scientist may not want their work to be publicized over internet but the most likely reason is that the scientist wants to talk about unpublished data and internet disseminTion of the information may be regarded as prior publication and the scientist the would not be able to publish the work in a good scientific journal. I don't think that it is related to fear of publicity or money. Wise. |

jsilver: "Basic over ground walking has been the toughest nut to crack with this true regeneration technique because so many different sensory as well as motor systems need to work together in order to produce crude walking. And this is really going to be tough in an upright walker like humans where vestibular and cerebellar function are also critical."
Wise Young: "It’s achievable not just within our lifetime, but within a few years, I believe we can fix a person enough so that someone who doesn’t know them wouldn’t know that that person has a spinal cord injury. To me that’s a cure!” jsilver, what's your opinion, these Wise's "Great Expectations" are somehow experimentally founded or it's mainly a PR-step? |

Im particularly interested in whether seeding a biomaterial would be a better way to provide a controlled and sustained delivery of chondroitinase to the lesion. Has anybody explored this?

Dear Kivi,
He really said that? One can only hope, but in the meantime I will do my best to help you understand "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth." Jerry |
