I agree with you DA... I think a lot of us are getting fed up with the slow pace of research. We need to stop talking about organizing together and DO IT. We need to be more like The Cancer Society, or AIDS and make people aware.

We are not as large of a group but we need to DEMAND that people see SCI as curable. I know many researchers do,or they wouldn't be doing it, but I'm talkng doctors, politicians, everyone. There have been many geat ideas here...we just need to choose on and run with it.

no emi, the technology is here. THEY JUST NEED TO APPLY IT.
nooooo, too busy buying little timmy a poke`mon game
with the money from stalling research. i looked and looked
and looked and looked for 4 years to find similarities
between sci research and other research. none. there is no
expectation from sci research therefore exploitation is
the norm. they should stop all the rat-hugging trials.
use the money they would spend on REPEATING the same trials
for humans.

CRV project

Their annual review came out and they funded $5 million in grants. They used a lot of mice and cats.

Yes, things need to start moving... I was just at a display thing for SCI week, and the only display on a cure was a table with forms for the fundraiser race on Sunday. Then I went to a presentation by a researcher here about work he was dong with platicity and Nogo-A. But he's doing transections on rats corticospinal tracts to see if the rubrospinal tract will develop functional plasticity. So he figures out that it does... but so what? Researchers need to start combining treatments in chronic animals, and then people. I'm not going for a treatment that hasn't been proven safe and effective in animals with my type of injury.
