I thought it was only me who feel bad when I sit in my chair. It is OK as long as I am moving but sitting for hours is killing me and my feet get swollen and my back hurts.
And since I have no problem to transfer, I change place all the time and most of the time I put my feet in the chair.

I am actually pretty comfortable in my manual chair, although I do get out and get in my standing frame while at school. My power chair, I don't know, I just got it yesterday and it has a solid seat pan. The cushion I have doesn't provide enough cushioning (Stimulite Slimline) so I'm going to ask my OT to get me something that suits this chair better as the Slimline is off my manual and it has a seat sling that isn't solid.

Fidgeter
Someone earlier mentioned restlessness. I've been in a wc off and on since I was 15 due to several different conditions. Recently, I made the switch to electric from manual due to muscle weakness and joint pain. For me, one of the hardest things to get used to has been the immobility of an electric - I used to get restless in the manual and would fidget *with* the chair, rolling it side to side a bit or back and forward. I can use the controls to do that in the electric of course, but it doesn't give the release of pent up energy that the manual did.
I've decided to get a manual to use when I can for exactly that reason.

For me it's not the cushion that bothers me but the back and sitting upright. My second(current chair) back reclines separately from the tilt and space. This significantly improved my comfort in sitting. Restaurants were torture since my power chair had to go into a 90 degree upright sitting position. I felt like i was dinning in hell. Now i recline the back and I'm okay. Bed is still my #1 comforter zone. I used to love laying on a recliner but I can't stand being stuck there and it felt like a chore to get into it.

I'm 70% comfortable in my chair. My only complain is my back. I could never find a perfect position for my back.
