topolino
after using the Topolino for a week, you can feel they are a stiffer rim/no flex and feel much lighter than the Spinergy LX when pop them off chair and loading into vehicle. they are around 1/4lb. lighter(using a feed scale, so can't get specific oz.)with axles and tires, but feel so much more. the axles are 1/2" longer in the Topolino, so a person could order a shorter hub and looses some ounces there. both pics are taken with same setup on wheels-rightruns,24x1 tubes, aluminum pushrims, and both had the proper axles to fit my ZR.
i would imagine we will see more high end bicycle wheels making their way to wheelchairs because standard wire wheels just suck. wonder how long it will take Mavic after totos' custom/altered wheel/hub? |

Thanks for the report and the photos. Glad to hear the wheels are working out for you, though I'm surprised that the weight savings compared to the LXs is so modest, even if they perform "lighter."

Thanks. My new chair has 6 degrees of camber and I can really feel the LX wheels flex and its a bit disconcerting. I may have to spring for the topolinos.

i don`t understand why my lx are much lighter than yours if are 24" too, because i only save in mines around 20 grames with aluminium bolts for fix the pushirm and another 35 grames with the polished.Maybe different brands of pushirms... make the difference. I would think that the difference in flex between the LX and the Dino would become even more discernible when running greater degrees of camber. The Dino spokes don't flex like the LX's, which have a lot of give, and they're spec'd for users up to 350 lbs, 100# more than the LX.
