Understood. I knew the answer to my question would be perfectly reasonable and innocent, thus, I asked here. I asked in the manner in which I did to make her laugh. A mutual friend of ours also didn't know why she was warming a bottle that hot, so I figured others might be wondering, too. I meant no harm.

Scroll down to the short video towards the bottom of the page, "Dr. Ariel Mirands Burns Guadalajara Civil Hospital.

http://www.oculusis.com/mexico/mp/video.php

I have used this on burns and it is very effective.

Cherbears - argh, I forgot to ask about a tetanus shot. I think I might have had one in the last 10 years, but I still should have asked. pah.

crypticgimp - lol! When I saw you mention your pasta water burn, the pasta boat just popped right into my mind, lmao!
I can't get over the life-sized doll thing either. Imagine if THAT thing had attacked you as you slept, lolol.
Oh my, I would have fainted if I could see anything like tendon. Didn't you feel a bit funny when you saw your foot like that?

cass - thank you. I do think I panicked a lot because I have never burned myself this bad before, and actually, I'd never had a burn since being sci, so that made it scarier to me, I think. I was frightened I was going to get terrible ad, mainly.
I think IF (hopefully not when!) it happens again, I will feel more in control.

Bonnette - I wonder where I got that idea from, that oily stuff can fry new burns. I am so clueless!

Thanks gjnl - what is a "nirtile glove"? I've heard aloe vera is very soothing to the skin, maybe it's something I should get to keep
in the house.

Leila - I could only watch half of that video. That burn made me feel a little funny. Sorry.

I saw the nurse again today. She said the wound looked good, and put a new dressing on it. I actually saw the wound yesterday, as the dressing was ready to come off. I think it looks quite good. I took yet another piccie. (Where else on the internet could I post pictures of my buttock and get serious responses, lol)
I'm getting another dressing from the chemist tomorrow, and I'm to redo it in a week, then see the nurse again the week after that (so two weeks from now).
I'm a little concerned I might scar, because I have weird skin tone variations anyway. I'm mixed race and olive skinned, and I hear darker skin can scar more?

Thank you again everyone.

Yep, definitely a 2nd-degree burn and healing nicely!

Nitrile is a synthetic form of rubber. Exam gloves made of nitrile are an alternative to gloves made of latex. If you get aloe vera make sure it is 100% aloe vera gel.

All the best,

It looks like you'll be fine after a while.
The silver lining to the SCI thundercloud is at least it doesn't hurt.
Of course, that's why you got burned in the first place, so the silver is tarnished, but anyway...

Good healing.

I have read several extensive patent documents for Microcyn technology which clearly indicate that it was "designed" for a wide spectrum of applications, internal as well as external. Wound care is but one segment of that spectrum.
