and if you're nervous messing around in the bios, you can always exit and not save changes, and go in next time and save with changes.

your bios is just a chip on the motherboard that tells the computer whats all in it, what drives, usb ports, video, etc

Bruce it still didn't show that when it started.

Mona,

Often it will not "show up", or just flash for a second or so, but usually it's either F!, F2, or Delete to bring it up. You can usually hit the power button, and then hit the appropriate key every 2 seconds of so until you get a message that you are entering setup.

yep, and a few times i've seen F10
and usually once in the BIOS, theres a setting for fast boot, i turn it off always so it shows all that stuff when you power it on

Sat. the lights blinked off & on & that's all she wrote! Motherboard fried!
2nd cpu & 1 flat screen hd tv lost by the electrical surges here! grrr
I had power surgers on all. Did no good. {confused}
I bought a used one from a computer store.

don't buy used ones, they've probably already been thru a surge

i get the fifty dollar battery backup and surge protectors
have about 6 of them, alot cheaper than replacing equipment, and they last years

My 1st surge protector was from Staples $60.

2nd from Radio Shack $35 reg $50 on sale.
