Jeff and DA
Christ, I'm effing sick of this bitchiness. Tell ya what, at the reunion, let's just have a general free-for-all ass-kicking session where all the pent-up resentments and such can be vented. Then let's have an orgy afterwards to celebrate and get to know each other and heal old wounds. In the meantime, folks, it sure as hell might be a good idea if every one of us writes, calls and otherwise lets the world know that if the demogogues get their way with this 'sky is falling' fear of human cloning bullshit, SCI, Parkinsons and all the rest of us sufferers are permanently screwed. The world needs to hear that stem cells research and this oh so scary cloning is exactly what we need to get off our asses. I understand your problems, gentlemen, but the pissiness is misdirected and a general waste of these threads. Let's move on, shall we?

Sorry VG and everyone else
Please try to skip this thread.
I say DA is full of shit. He hurts the community with his attitude and attacks on both the injured and our researchers. Hopefully he'll remember this thread for a while before he starts in again. We'll see. ~See you at the SCIWire-used-to-be-paralyzed Reunion ~

passive jeff, when i watch my nfl team play, i boo them because they are not very good. i scream fire the coach. when my team was winning the superbowl i couldnt stop bragging on them. why would you want to ban booing researchers? they arent doing a very good job. at least most arent.
its not like their volunteers helping us for free. when they start helping us, then they will deserve cheers. the current trials is like a field goal. these researchers need a touchdown. so until then, booooooooooooo. fire the researchers. put in the back up or trade them. |

That bone density comment you made could be a problem if there is a cure - hopefully the bones would strengthen once our own muscle power was involved - I stand on calipers but is that not doing the bones any good? Chris |

Yes sure DA, the only fact you mention is that Regeneron bought the rights and didn't do much with it.But you first said that they announced trials almost 5 years ago(so late 1996) while they just discovered the humanized version of IN-1 in 1998 so your talking nonsense. How could they announce trials while they even had a humanized version of IN-1 and when they had one they also couldn't start directly because they first had to test it in rats and almost sure primates as well.Show me evidence that they announced trials in 1996 or the beginning of 1997, of course you couldn't because there isn't.So who is the one who have to know his facts before typing.

If I was a researcher who had dedicated my career to SCI research, some gimp blaming his SCI woes on me because I haven't discovered a cure by now wouldn't make me change the way I worked. You get much better results with a smile and an outstretched hand (figuratively speaking) than with ranting and stomping your feet. Nothing against DA as a person, but the attitude he gives off here sometimes sounds more like a child whining than someone trying to help speed up research. ~Rus "We are not brave because we are free. It is almost funny
Well, Scorpion, have you heard the other news? DA has now sold out to the medical community he once hated so vehemently. He's raping the SCIs of the world with over-priced standup wheelchairs. He ought to be giving out free plans to build simple, affordable standing tables and telling people to save their money for their first cure therapy. He certainly can't suggest using it to support research because there are no researchers he supports.
Chris - KLD or one of the other nurses posted that about the lack of evidence for regaining bone density by standing. Standing is, I believe, known to be helpful in maintaining bone density. Unfortunately most of us have lost a lot, already. Personally, I believe no study would have followed participants long enough to find out if it was impossible or not. There is also a class of cholesterol drugs called statins which have a positive effect on bone density. I think these, combined with weight bearing, would be effective over a longer period. I'm definitely going to find out. Quote:
