What iPad Apps Do You Use?
I have been looking for decent applications but find the iTunes App Store a bit frustrating to browse through. I am trying to find ways to use my iPad more in place of a laptop, especially when it comes to school. I wondered what apps iPad users on here find helpful, interesting, or fun.
The more useful ones I have installed so far: 1. DocsToGo: Edits Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents. I gave up on the free text editors and bought this for $16. It was $5 extra for the Premium edition which enables a person to sync documents with a secondary laptop or desktop as well as with services like Dropbox. It works very well. It's worth the extra cost to upgrade in my opinion. 2. Dropbox: The iPad app has all the functions and features of the regular Dropbox software. It works great in conjunction with DocsToGo. 3. VLC Media Player: a free program that will play most video formats. Gets rid of the need to convert video to the mp4 format, which is all the current iPad player supports. 4. Starbucks: For coffee addicts like myself who need to know where the nearest Starbucks is and whether it is still open late at night. It also contains dietary information about the food and drinks Starbucks serves. 5. iBooks: I love the epub format for books and the iPad has become my primary reading device. 6. Skyfire Browser: Has some bugs but allows Flash content to be displayed on an iPad. 7. Pocket Frogs: who knew breeding computerized frogs could be so addicting? 8. Netflix: to watch streaming movies. 9. iSpeak Spanish: good review for Spanish, which I am currently learning. 10. Google Earth: a good way to procrastinate Last edited by orangejello; 01-05-2011 at 03:33 PM. |

2 that i like that haven't been mentioned yet are flipboard and pulse. Flipboard is an interesting way to look at twitter and the news. Pulse is a good way to see all of the news from your favorite sources at once. I do like Angry Bird and ESPN Sportcenter.

QuickVoice is great. Just speak your message and it is delivered to whoever's email address for them to listen to. Nothing more than talking required!

OMG! another pocket frogs addict! i'm quaxocat on there... friend me! lol
*ahem* anyways... i have the normal social networking apps (facebook, twitter, foursquare, or as my friend calls it "this is exactly where i am come and molest me") and also a few games.... touch hockey and mancala are both free apps... i have a spiderman game that's a remake of a game i used to play on my SNES years ago. i also love the hipstamatic camera app, ibooks, dragon, talkingtom (it's a cartoon cat that repeats back what you say in a funny voice... my friend's 4 year old thinks it's the best thing in the world), BBC news, and a comic making app i haven't tried out yet. oh, and pocket frogs =]

I'm going to check out QuickVoice; thanks Eileen. I tried DragonDictate for iPad the other day but my resulting text contained many errors.
Are there any other apps that can be controlled or interacted with by voice? (Preferably without jailbreaking.) |
