Well another day of so far so good. He held in 60 cc both morning and tonight with no issues at all.
And to whoever asked, yes, he has regular ultrasounds and urodynamics. And he actually had (minor) surgery two months ago to remove and replace the SP cath because it absolutely wouldn't come out - not even the urologist could get it out. I have never had problems getting the SP out until he got pseudomonas, not once in 3 years had I not been able to remove the SP and insert a new one. After pseudomonas appeared on the scene, both getting the old SP cath out and the new SP is a real bitch. So I REALLY super hope this works because a $60 copay to change his catheter once a month is killing our budget when I can do it for free at home. The gunk is gone, and he felt quite a bit better today in terms of twitchy bladder. I just ordered more Vetricyn VF. So far, so good! |

Moderators et. al.
The Microcyn thread started by "Leila" http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/showthread.php?t=133414 is so thorough and has so much information and continuity of information. Now there is a "request for summary" forum started by "zillazangel" http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/showthread.php?t=14379i that has had so much information that is pertinent added to it, but disconnected from the original "Leila" thread. Is there any possibility of merging the two threads so that this vital information is not bifurcated. It seems like such a shame that "Leila's" original thread had been diluted by this other forum out there that contains so much vital information that may be missed by members. I would like to see a mechanism that can merge threads so that members need not search for and providers of such vital information need not monitor several threads to keep everything and everyone current. Please do not merge them .... I am posting a very specific thread for my situation. Thanks.
Ps I still think someone should summarize that thread, it is entirely impossible to review hundreds of posts if one is searching for information. |

I ordered four bottles yesterday. His urine is really clear and pretty, so I'm changing his sp tomorrow. I hope that it's easy to do, I'm hopeful based on the fact that he feels alot better too. In two weeks I'll take in another clean sample, and then keep sampling regularly to see how it tests serially (once it came back free of psuedomonas but then came back the next time).

No, I have changed his SP for years, its just that ever since he came down with drug resistant pseudomonas (about 6 months ago) it is very difficult to both pull out and insert the new sp cath; even the urologist wasn't able to do it - when he (the uro) couldn't change it last month he had to undergo minor surgery to put it back in. Prior to getting pseudomonas, it was a cinch to just pull it out and stick a new one in. I am hoping now that the Vetricyn will calm the bladder down again so I can just change it at home myself again.

It is very intimidating the first few times, but it really is very, very easy and so quick. The urologist showed me how to do it the first time it was changed (years ago), the next time I did it while in their office in case anything got goofed up, and ever since then I've done it alone at home. It saves us $60 copay to do it at home too. Just the pseudomonas has been screwing things up lately. I actually am going to change it out tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes. I meant to do it today but I got sidetracked. Let me know if she tries it, or needs a voice of encouragement!
