new hand controls?

So I am giving in on my toyota tacoma truck and am looking into cars. I'm liking the new Nissan Maxima's. I'm worried though if my ct 100 hand controls will work with the way the dash is set up. Anyone have a nissan with hand controls they recomend? I dont want to have too much big and bulking connecting rods to get in the way of transfers. Is there any where that says x, y or z will work or is it just trial and error to decide? Any help is great thanks.

Good Morning, What type of action does a CT100 have? Are you also using secondary functions on the hand controls(ie: horn/dimmer, directionals)? There are many great hand control manufacturers with many different actions. Generally most manufacturers achieve braking the same way(brake rod bolted directly to pedal or brake pedal arm), but there are many different ways to achieve throttle. Generally the thing that gets in the way of the transfer the most is the brake rod. Also, before you have them installed I would greatly encourage you to sit in the vehicle and figure out where you will need the steering wheel positioned. If you can leave the tilt wheel in one place and disable the tilt feature it will allow your technician to install the hand controls much tighter to the bottom of the steering column, allowing you more room for a transfer.

I have the CT 100, in my '08 Dodge Grand Caravan and love them. Wells-Engberg controls should be able to be adapted to any vehicle, and you may want to call them about your application. If the cost is not a problem, I would check out http://www.menox.org/en/hand_controls/ for what seems like a really intuitive hand control with a number of useful options.

I agree with Don, the Wells Enbergs should be able to be installed in virtually anything. You may need to purchase a new throttle cable depending on how the Tacoma works(the Maxima will have to have the gas pedal pulled down, but depending on the year the Tacomas may have been a pull above the pivot point). We install A LOT of Menox MHC-1s, and while they have a lot of good features can be problematic and difficult to install. I just got a set of Viegels donated for an evaluator and I'm hoping to get them installed in the next couple of weeks to see how they compare.

As always, if you're changing hand control action I would recommend the advice of a CDRS.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm looking into a few things. How are the menox? I like the looks of them and the extra features with the buttons. Do many people on here use them?

I have the basic Menox controls and absolutely LOVE them. It has one control button that locks the brake in place so I can put the car in drive/park/reverse/etc. without using both hands. The button can also be hooked up to the horn and cruise control, but I did not have those hooked up when I had them installed. I will probably have them hooked up in the future.
As far as the controls themselves, the Menox's are easy to use (push for brake, pull for gas) and they had a nice, CLEAN installation in my Toyota Rav4. There are several colors for the handle and the cover for the shaft, and that helps it blend into the car nicely. Mine looks like it is standard in the car, and not an add on.
