yea robin on this club the population isnt that good but when u see a buck its useally a nice one..they said the buck to doe ratio is great so we voted not to shoot does till we need to...the last club i was on i would see 20 does in one day and not one buck and it sucked.. but last year on this club i saw just about as many bucks as i did does the good thing we have 4000 acres and only 34 members so i never see anybody and when the rut hits you see the bucks..they are coming to look at our club to see if the land would be good for the elk and if it is hopefully they will stock them on it...we were the only county to agree to let them stock elk i just hope they do good and nobody poachs them..

It would be neat to have elk. I've been out 7 times now with crossbow and everything (deer) I've seen so far would have made for a long rifle shot. The trails are completely different than last year, the weather has been good so most of the crops are out which leaves less hiding places. Low's in the low 30's now so the rut should get started within the next 2-3 weeks.

Went out this afternoon late. Got to stand at 5:30 and had a young doe come in to my right side 25 yards or so on the other side of a fence. I was hunting alone so didn't take the shot. Didn't see anything else but squirrels the rest of the afternoon. Beautiful afternoon to be out though.

Glad you live in the county down there with some sense. It amazed me listening to the arguments the counties and the "cattle farmers" made against the stocking program. If they can get the elk started it'll be a win-win situation for the area and for DGIF.

You guys are seeing way too much, and so close!!! That young doe would be some tender stuff. Hope you get another chance at her.

Heading out with a friend at 3:30 to a new place he has. Tonight I can shoot and not worry about how I'm going to deal with a downed deer.
